Ramsdorf – the results of the ATS swimmers at the international bavarian championships for masters in open water swimming over 2.5 kilometers are impressive: four starters – four podium places. Theresa deichsel became bavarian champion, sandra and jens polanetzki and marianne schwarz took silver places.

In contrast to last year, the open water swimmers of the ATS kulmbach expected optimal conditions at the coarse brombachsee this year. At 24 degrees air and 23 degrees water temperature, 95 athletes simultaneously plunged into the lake. "We literally had to defend ourselves at the start with our hands and fists to avoid being submerged and pushed off", theresa deichsel emphasized.

In total they had to swim two laps on a triangular course, which was marked out with buoys, in an anticlockwise direction. The first part of the course ran parallel to the shore, while the second went out onto the open lake and the third back to the start near the shore.

Especially for the three madels the orientation on the open lake was not so easy, because they had no or only a few swimmers in the immediate vicinity in front of them. Jens polanetzki, who was able to join a large group, fared better. After a good 41:35.37 minutes, he was the first person from kulmbach to reach the finish line and won 2nd place. Place in AK 20 behind peter rothemund (37:17,52) from hof.

A little later theresa deichsel (43:24,90) crossed the finish line. She secured the title in AK 25 ahead of her training mate marianne schwarz (44:33,71). Sandra polanetzki also won a silver medal in the age group 20: with a time of 47:13.30 minutes she was beaten only by carolin gunther (SV straubing).
